Bailey denies rumors that Warner will return for the Champions Trophy in 2025
After retiring from ODIs and Tests earlier this year, David Warner announced his retirement from the T20I format in response to Australia's elimination from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. This announcement marked the end of his international cricket career.
Warner stated that franchise cricket will be the emphasis moving forward in an Instagram post honoring his career, although he left the door open for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in 2025 "if selected."
Australia's attention will be on the future, as George Bailey has acknowledged, suggesting that they believe Warner has retired from international cricket.
Bailey stated, "I think he's just stirring the pot a bit," at the press conference following the announcement of Australia's team for the white-ball tour of the United Kingdom.
According to what we gather, David is retiring. He deserves recognition for an amazing career spanning all three formats.
"We have it planned that he won't be in Pakistan. "I don't think there's anyone that's not there (in the UK squads) that we've put a line through permanently besides David (Warner) who's retired," Bailey stated.
Bailey emphasized that Wade is not retired and may still be given a chance to play again, but he was thrilled to give Inglis a chance.
