Gurbaz receives a cheeky "handwave" from Stoinis following the record opening stand
There was plenty of action in Afghanistan's 16th over of the innings. After Gurbaz played a dot off the second ball, there was a stare-off between him and Stoinis.
Gurbaz countered by playing a six over cow corner, which involved creating space and crossing the line.
But Stoinis emerged from the fifth ball with the last laugh. In an attempt to strike Gurbaz's legside, he pitched a slower ball on length, angling it into the ground.
David Warner made a fantastic catch at deep square leg, thus the shot was mistimed. The all-round player yelled with joy as he bid farewell to the departing batter.
Afghanistan reached 118 in 15.5 overs after being asked to bat first thanks to an opening partnership between Gurbaz (60 off 49) and Ibrahim Zadran (51 off 48).
After Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the combination became the second opening tandem in the T20 World Cup to record three partnerships over 100 runs.
