If Rohit fails to win the T20 World Cup Final, he would jump into the Barbados ocean
Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India, believes that Rohit Sharma's team can defeat South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Ganguly supports the Men in Blue to defeat South Africa, another undefeated team in the tournament, and end the 11-year ICC trophy drought.
He did, however, joke that Rohit would leap into the Barbados water if India lost this time—it was the second ICC Final in just seven months.
"In seven (six) months, I don't think he can lose two World Cup finals." If he doesn't win two finals while serving as captain in the next seven months, Ganguly told PTI, "It's likely that he will jump into the Barbados ocean."
"I hope he keeps leading from the front and batting superbly tomorrow. I hope India ends up on the right side, and they ought to be allowed to play freely. They have been the opposition's strongest side. I hope they succeed and wish them luck. I hope they have a little bit of luck tomorrow, as winning major tournaments requires that," Ganguly continued.
Rohit has led the Indian team to three ICC Finals since replacing Virat as captain of the team across formats a few years ago. These included the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia last year and the 50-over World Cup at home a few months later. Despite these victories, India was defeated by Australia both times.
