India Women's squad adds Shabnam Shakil
Shabnam Shakil, the pacer who won the Under-19 World Cup, was picked as a late addition to the national squads for the present multi-format series against South Africa. This is her first senior call-up for India.
Shakil, 17, was perhaps added as a backup or in light of how India's top pacers manage their workloads. In the first One-Day International of the three-match series that is presently taking place in Bengaluru, Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Thakur split the new-ball duties.
The Indian selectors have chosen to keep the rest of the squad for the remaining games, with the exception of Shakil.
When Shakil was awarded the cap by the Gujrat Giants, who signed her for a basic salary of INR 10 lakhs, she became the youngest debutant in WPL history.
