South Africa defeats Afghanistan To get to their first T20 World Cup final
After winning their last seven World Cup semi-finals in both the T20 and 50-over categories, the Proteas are just one win away from winning their first title. They have already won eight of the past eight matches this year.
South Africadefeated Afghanistan by nine wickets in Trinidad to advance to their first-ever ICC Men's T20 World Cup final.
With eight wickets falling in the first ten overs, South Africa bowled Afghanistan out for just 56 runs in the first semi-final.
With the final ball of the first over, Jansen dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz to start the match. Gulbadin Naib was dismissed by Jansen, who was in fine form, and Rabada removed the stumps of Ibrahim Zadran and Mohammad Nabi in a double-wicket maiden.
Later, Jansen removed Nangeyalia Kharote, and Azmatullah Omarzai's wicket was grabbed by Nortje. By getting rid of Karim Janat, Noor Ahmad, and Naveen-ul-Haq, Shamsi finished the task.
Marco Jansen's outstanding 3/16 from three overs earned him the title of Player of the Match. Anrich Nortje (2/7 from three overs) and Kagiso Rabada (2/14 from three overs) both made substantial contributions before Tabraiz Shamsi (3/16 in just 11 balls) completed the innings.
In this Men's T20 World Cup semi-final, it was the first time a side has bowled their opponent out for less than 100 runs.
South Africa's top order displayed poise in pursuit of a modest target of 57 runs, compelling Afghanistan to unleash Rashid Khan early in the Powerplay. Six overs later, South Africa was at 34/1. Reeza Hendricks (29*) and Aiden Markram (23) led their team to victory in nine overs after losing Quinton de Kock for five runs.
South Africa will play the winner of Thursday semi-final between India and England. Barbados will host the championship match on June 29.
