With South Africa's thrilling victory, England's chances are in doubt

England lost a thrilling last-over match against South Africa in St. Lucia, raising doubts about their chances of making it to the T20 World Cup semifinals. On a challenging pitch, Harry Brook salvaged a 164-run chase that looked doomed, requiring 14 runs from the last six balls.

But as the game swung back to the Proteas, Aiden Markram beautifully caught him for 53 off the opening ball of the 20th over. England needed nine runs from the final three balls after Sam Curran's boundary, but Anrich Nortje sealed the victory with a seven-run score.

Having won both of their Super 8 games thus far, South Africa is now just one win away from securing a spot in the semifinals.

Quinton de Kock's quick start, which saw him knock 65 from 38 balls, contributed to their 163-6 total. However, England rallied with their spinners and some outstanding fielding.

On Sunday, England will play the United States in Barbados, and even a victory would put them in a good position to advance.
