Kathmandu Gurkhas Secure 18-Run Victory Over Lumbini Lions in NPL Match 19
In Match 19 of the Nepal Premier League 2024–25, the Kathmandu Gurkhas defeated the Lumbini Lions by a slim margin of 18 runs on December 11, 2024, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Batting first, the Gurkhas started strongly but lost wickets at regular intervals. Bhim Sharki provided a strong platform with A responsible 31 off 40 balls, while Dan Douthwaite pitched in with 21. The Gurkhas ultimately only managed 103 runs in 19.2 overs. Saad Bin Zafar took 3 wickets for 21 runs and Abhishek Gautam 2 wickets for 16 runs and were the pick of the bowlers for the Lions.
The Lions made a slow start chasing a small target and faltered in the second half of their innings. Unmukt Chand made 14 and Sundeep Jora offered some promise with his contribution of 26 but could not anchor the innings. Eventually the Lions were bowled out for 85 runs in 19.2 overs with Karan KC leading the Gurkhas bowling with outstanding figures of 4 wickets for 16 runs.
