The ICC has announced the schedule for the East Asia-Pacific and Asia World Cup qualifiers
In the second half of 2025, the EAP and Asia regions will host two key ICC men’s and women’s pathway tournaments, both of which are crucial steps toward World Cup qualification.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup EAP Qualifier will be held in Suva, Fiji, from September 9 to 15. Competing teams include hosts Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Japan, Samoa, Cook Islands, and the Philippines, who are making their debut in an ICC Women’s Pathway Event. The teams will be split into two groups of four, followed by semi-finals and a final. The winner will secure a place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
Cricket Fiji CEO Sitiveni Rokoro expressed pride in hosting their first ICC Women’s pathway tournament, calling it a milestone for the region and a symbol of growth and inclusivity in women’s cricket. He extended a warm “Bula vinaka” to all teams and thanked the ICC and EAP Regional Team for their support.
Then, on October 8, Oman will host the combined ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier, featuring nine teams: sub-regional winners from 2024—Kuwait, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, Japan, and Samoa—as well as Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and the hosts. The event will be divided into two stages: a Group Stage from October 8 to 10, and a Super Six Stage from October 12 to 17. For the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the top three teams will compete, with the top two teams from each group moving on to the Super Six in India and Sri Lanka.
Oman Cricket Treasurer Alkesh Joshi emphasized the team's commitment to providing top-tier platforms for players and making the tournament a fan celebration, with free entry to all matches at Amerat. He congratulated the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, emphasizing Oman's expanding presence in international cricket.
