PCB Significantly Increases Salaries for Pakistani Players
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to raise the pay of its national players even though their performance has been poor, while stopping payments to domestic players. For its domestic players, the PCB has reduced their contracts by about 34%, while the centrally contracted international players' pay has been increased by 37%. The budget was passed by the Board of Governors in the PCB's new 2022-year budget.
Even though Pakistan's senior team has struggled—it failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup, lost in warm-up games against the USA and Ireland before the World Cup, and was eliminated early from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy it hosted, the PCB still granted the players an increase in salaries.
