ICC Test Rankings: Harry Brook becomes the new No. 1 and Shubman Gill enters the top 10
India's captain Shubman Gill has entered the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings after a remarkable performance in the second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. He climbed 15 places to reach a career-best No. 6 spot.
At the same time, England’s Harry Brook took the No. 1 ranking, replacing former captain Joe Root.
History was made by Gill in Birmingham by becoming the first player to score both a double century and a 150+ score in the same Test. He scored 269 in the first innings and 161 in the second on a batting-friendly pitch. India piled up over 1000 runs and beat England by 336 runs, tying the series 1-1 in a dominant win.
Since becoming India’s Test captain, Gill has significantly improved his form overseas and proven wrong those who doubted his performance outside Asia.
