ACC Women's Asia Cup 2024 squad for Nepal is announced
On July 19, Nepalwill play the winners of the ACC Women's Premier Cup, the United Arab Emirates, in the opening match of the 2024 Women's T20 Asia Cup.
The team representing Nepal in the ACC Women's Asia Cup 2024 has been revealed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). The 15-player team, which features some significant absences and some new faces, will be led by Captain Indu Barma.
The ninth Women's Asia Cup, known as the T20 Asia Cup, is slated to take place in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, from July 19 to July 28.
Nepal, who was drawn into Group A, will play their next group game on July 21 against Pakistan, the runners-up in both 2012 and 2016, and their last group game on July 23 against India, the reigning winners.
After losing their ACC Women's Premier Cup semi-final match against Malaysia by four wickets at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur in February, Nepal had originally missed out on qualifying for the Asia Cup.
Originally, the Asian Cricket Council had stated that Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka would be the only two Premier Cup finalists joining them at this year's tournament.
However, after the ACC stated that the tournament will be expanded to eight teams one more than the previous edition in 2022 Nepal and Thailand were later added to the competition as semi-finalists.
On Wednesday, Nepal also unveiled their final 15-man Asia Cup team. The Nepalese team are: Indu Barma (c), Rubina Chhetri, Bindu Rawal, Sita Rana Magar, Kajol Shrestha, Rajmati Airee, Sabnam Rai, Mamta Chaudhary, Kritika Marasini, Dolly Bhatta, and Roma Thapa.
