India defeated Bangladesh with a clinical victory led by Pandya and Kuldeep
Against Bangladesh, Team India delivered another masterful effort, winning by 50 runs in their second Super 8 match of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Antigua on Saturday.
The Men in Blue are well-positioned to advance to the semi-finals after winning their second straight game in the Super 8 stage.
Bangladesh had won the toss and India had been called to bat. After building a quick 39-run partnership, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's momentum was broken in the fourth over by Shakib Al Hasan, who claimed his 50th wicket in T20 World Cups.
Up until the ninth over, when Tanzim Hasan Sakib dismissed him for 37 runs (three fours and three sixes), Kohli kept adding runs to his total.
Tanzim took his second wicket of the day with just two balls remaining when Suryakumar flicked a ball through to Litton Das, the wicketkeeper's gloves.
After making a brilliant cameo of 36, Rishabh Pant attempted a reverse-sweep of Rishad Hossain, but he was only successful up to Tanzim's hands, leaving India 108/4.
And Rishad was the one to clean bowl Shivam Dube, who appeared to be poised to finish the innings. The hitter was headed for 34 when he failed to make contact on a powerful shot he was trying to add to his already impressive total of three sixes.
After reaching a half-century off of 27 balls, Hardik Pandya was allowed to lead India home. Axar Patel stayed with him until the finish of the innings.
Bangladesh started slowly and was never able to catch up, but they managed to gather some fire in their counterattack, though not quite enough. The runs did not flow swiftly, even though the wickets did not fall rapidly either.
After being caught by Kuldeep Yadav off Pandya for 13, Litton Das was the first man out. Tanzid Hasan followed for 29, deceived by Kuldeep Yadav's googly.
Kuldeep dismissed Shakib for 11 after he was bowled out for 4 by Towhid Hridoy, just when he was beginning to look dangerous with a few powerful blows.
