Rovman Powell praises the West Indies' amazing progress

West Indies failed to overtake South Africa in the T20 World Cup, despite a heroic bowling effort that almost pulled triumph out of the jaws of defeat.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell expressed his pride in the improvements the "Men in Maroon" have made in the last year, even though their chances of capturing a record third title were shattered.

During the post-match award ceremony, Powell said, "I think the cricket we have played in the last 12 months or so is commendable."

"The crew deserves recognition. It's amazing work if you can go from being ranked nineth to third in the world in just a year."

Throughout the competition, the West Indies put up quite a show, with several local players capturing the attention of the audience. There were outstanding victories against Afghanistan and New Zealand.

The skipper of the West Indies expressed his happiness at the renewed attention being paid to the Caribbean.

Although we didn't win the World Cup, there was a noticeable improvement. West Indies cricket is a big deal in the Caribbean once more. Over the past 12 months, we have accomplished some excellent things.

Here's when the job really begins. We need to stick together, keep our bonds strong, and maybe, just maybe, we may keep moving up the rankings and inspire the people of the Caribbean.

Powell saw that the team was moving in the right path because of the support they received both on and off the field during the home World Cup.
