T20 World Cup 2024 Final Preview: India vs. South Africa
India is preparing for their second World Cup final in as many months when they play South Africa in the T20 championship match on Saturday in Bridgetown, Barbados.
With the month-long T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies coming to a conclusion, India, eager to move on from their home-ground 2023 ODI World Cup final setback to Australia, will take against South Africa.
India and South Africa go into Saturday's final with one thing in common: they are both undefeated in this year's T20 World Cup.
Both South Africa and India emerged victorious from their groups and achieved comparable outcomes in the Super Eights phase. India overcame defending champion England in the semifinals, while South Africa utterly destroyed Afghanistan.
India, who won the first edition in 2007, is hoping to raise the trophy a second time. The men in blue last won a World Cup in the 2011 50-over competition, and they haven't taken home a trophy since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
After seven World Cup semi-final losses across all formats (five in ODI World Cups and two in T20 World Cups), the Proteas will be participating in a World Cup final for the first time.
