Rise, fall, and hopeful return of Aadil Alam: CAN to choose his destiny
For a considerable amount of time, Aadil Alam has been a hot issue among cricket enthusiasts in Nepal. As of right now, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN)has suspended him.
In a few days, his cricket career in Nepal will be decided. On the suspicion of spot-fixing in the Nepal T20 League, Alam was taken into custody by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police in January 2023.
Due to a lack of proof, Alam was exonerated in March of charges of spot-fixing during the Nepal T20 League 2022–2023.
At the July 4 meeting of CAN's central committee, it was determined that the disciplinary committee of the organization would have to decide whether to suspend him, and that decision would have to be made within a week. With this clean sheet from the court, there's a good chance his punishment will be lifted.
Throughout the competition, the Nepal T20 League's debut season generated controversy due to allegations of spot and match-fixing.
Aadil Alam was taken into custody on suspicion of spot-fixing during the same League following an investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police.
Mehboob Alam, a former all-star all-rounder from Nepal, was also detained on suspicion of having fixed matches while residing in India.
The disciplinary committee of CAN will rule on his case in a few days. His suspension will be lifted if the results are favorable, allowing him to play in domestic leagues and possibly rejoining the national squad (assuming he performs well). But, Aadil's cricket career may come to an end if the verdict stays the same.
