Virat Kohli is absent from the ICC's 2024 T20 World Cup ideal team
The squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, has been revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The tournament team included six players from the Indian squad that won the championship in Barbados. Virat Kohli, who scored 76 runs in a pivotal inning for his team in the Final, was left off the list.
Eleven of the finest players from the just finished T20 World Cup 2024 were on the tournament squad.
Six Indian players were in the squad: skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah. However, Virat Kohli, who won the match in the Final, was forced to sit out.
Along with opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis, other batters on the list performed far better individually than Kohli did, even though they did not win the championship.
In his eight games, Kohli had only managed 151 runs, the most of which came in the final encounter against South Africa. Gurbaz of Afghanistan, who had scored 281 runs to lead the tournament in runs scored, would have had to fight for the opening place.
