Top Five Foreign Stars in NPL: From T20 World Cup Heroes to IPL Champions

The Nepal Premier League (NPL), which is the official league of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), has started in Kathmandu from Saturday. World-famous and experienced players have also come to Nepal when the Mahakumbh of NPL, which is considered to be the biggest in the history of Nepalese cricket, was held at the TU ground in Kirtipur.

Martin Guptill, New Zealand's star batsman scored a half-century against Janakpur Bolts in the opening match playing for Biratnagar Kings.
In addition, Indian cricket star Shikhar Dhawan, Pakistan's veteran player Sohail Tanveer, and England's veteran all-rounder Ravi Bopara are now fit for T20.
The five foreign stars who are playing in the first season of the Nepal Premier League are as follows:

Martin Guptill (New Zealand)

In the same ODI World Cup, Only two players have scored double centuries. The first one is Chris Gayle and the other is New Zealand hard hitter Martin Guptill. Gayle did that first. And afterward, it was Guptill who broke the record. In the 2015 ICC World Cup, Kiwis opener Guptill scored 237 runs against the West Indies. That too not out. He returned by carrying the bat while opening and remaining at the crease till the end. Guptill played 163 balls and hit 24 fours and 11 sixes in that game. He added 162 runs from the only boundary.

Shikhar Dhawan (India)

Shikhar Dhawan  is a star player from our neighboring country, India. Dhawan is a big name coming to play in the NPL. Ever since Karnali Yaks signed Dhawan for the NPL, his talk started to increase. It did not only talk about Dhawan but also about NPL all over the world. From Indian media to international media, the news of Dhawan playing NPL was printed with importance. Indian players are not allowed to play in leagues of other countries except IPL; he got that chance to play after his retirement.

Sohail Tanvir (Pakistan)

Sohail Tanvir is one such player who has won the titles of the ICC T20 World Cup, Indian Premier League (IPL), and Pakistan Premier League (PSL). Sohail Tanveer has also arrived in Kathmandu to play NPL from Chitwan Rhinos. Tanveer was one of the crucial players of the winning team, Rajasthan Royals, in the first edition of the IPL. Then in 2009, he won the ICC T20 World Cup with Pakistan's national team. Tanveer won the IPL title in the first edition and also took the most wickets.

Jimmy Neesham (New Zealand)

Jimmy Neesham, an impactful all-rounder who can bowl and bat in the middle order and lower order, is considered an influential T-20 all-rounder in the world.
All-rounder Neeshan, who is suitable for T20, has also come to Nepal to play NPL. He was signed by the Janakpur Bolts. He missed the opening match of Janakpur Bolts because he was playing for Amazon Bolts in the ongoing T10 league in the UAE. After that, he left the T20 League and came to Kathmandu on Sunday to play in the NPL. Neesham is the biggest name to be signed by Janakpur Bolts.

Ravi Bopara (England)

Ravi Bopara is a member of the world champion team that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009 with England when he was just 24 years old. He played only one match in the Super Eight round against New Zealand. In that too, he got out in 9 runs. Bopara is one of the two T20 World Cup winners who will be playing in the NPL. Apart from him, Pakistan's Sohail Tanvir, who won the T20 World Cup, has also come to Kathmandu to play in the NPL.
