Biratnagar Kings vs Pokhara Avengers ends in dramatic draw in Match 20 of Nepal Premier League
It was a highly entertaining match in Match 20 of the Nepal Premier League 2024–25 on 13 December at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground. As usual, the fans were treated to a rare and exciting tie as the final ball of the match decided the outcome, with Biratnagar Kings and Pokhara Avengers finishing with the same score.
In their 20-over innings, Pokhara Avengers scored 170/8 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Upul Tharanga contributed 51 off 39 balls and Binod Bhandari added another 35 off 20 balls. Despite a mid-innings duel, they still managed to push the score over 170. Their Openers had also helped their cause with extras and crucial lower-order additions. Biratnagar used the electric bowling from Pratis GC (2/24) and Raj Lamsal (2/36) to apply pressure through out the innings.
In reply, Biratnagar Kings built their innings methodically. Lokesh Bam was instrumental for Biratnagar scoring 49 runs from 31 balls and Basir Ahamad scoring 44 off of 33 balls, bringing their innings up and down, and it was a game of momentum. The Pokhara bowlers began to fight back in the closing overs, as Biratnagar needed 7 from the last over and only scraped home with a score of 6 runs and finished their innings at 170/6 — providing the rare and thrilling draw in T20 cricket.
