Karnali Yaks' thrilling victory over the Biratnagar Kings secures their second NPL title
Karnali Yaks got their second win in the Nepal Premier League by beating Biratnagar Kings by seven runs at Tribhuvan University Ground, Kirtipur.
Biratnagar, chasing 134, scored 126/8 in 20 overs. Nicholas Kirton led with 40 runs, while Lokesh Bam and Deepak Bohora added 19 and 18 respectively, but others failed to reach double digits.
Karnali’s Nandan Yadav was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Bipin Sharma took 2 wickets, and Unis Thakuri, William Bosisto, and captain Sompal Kami each took one.
Karnali scored 133 runs before all their players got out. William Bosisto scored 66 runs from 49 balls, and Dev Khanal made 53 runs from 48 balls. No more than 10 runs were scored by other players.
For Biratnagar, Pratish GC did very well, taking 4 wickets while giving away only 17 runs. Basir Ahamad and Chris Sole took 2 wickets each, and Aqib Ilyas took 1 wicket.
With this win, Karnali kept their chance to reach the playoffs alive, having won 2 of their 4 games. Biratnagar lost 3 out of 4 matches, winning only once against Lumbini Lions. In another game on Saturday, Sudurpaschim Royals defeated Lumbini Lions by 45 runs.
