Chitwan Rhinos defeats Pokhara Avengers

During the fifth match of the Nepal Premier League 2024-25, the Chitwan Rhinos put on an impressive show, defeating the Pokhara Avengers by 87 runs at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Chitwan batted first, scoring 161/7 in 20 overs, giving Pokhara a target of 162. Rijan Dhakal, who scored 40 runs off 30 balls, was the most impressive batsman.He was supported by Santosh Karki who scored 22* runs off 13 balls at the end of the innings. Though Dhakal and Karki scored crucial 46 run partnership with Sharad Vesawkar remaining on 13*, Ripan's mid-innings struggles forced Chitwan to again rely on their bowlers to defend their modest target.

The Pokhara Avengers were bundled out for only 74 runs in just 13.2 overs and 87 runs short. Their chances of chasing the low target evaporated, as their batting card resembled a roller-coaster, losing wickets at regular intervals. Rijan Dhakal was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling, 3 wickets at only 10 runs. The bowlers ensured Pikara did not generate any momentum in the run chase.
